How much does a YouTube agency cost?

By Jihan Kalidh, founder of StudioFlow · Updated 14 September 2026

Prices vary a lot, because agencies sell very different amounts of work under the same name. Compare what's included, not only the monthly number.

Most agencies don't publish their prices, which makes shopping around slow. StudioFlow does, so this guide uses our own numbers as a reference point and explains what to check in every other quote.

The four ways agencies charge

ModelHow it worksWatch out for
Per videoA fixed fee for each finished video.Usually editing only. Ideas, scripts and strategy cost extra or aren't offered.
Monthly retainerA set number of videos a month for one fee.Check which of the nine stages are included and how long the minimum term is.
Retainer plus performanceLower base fee plus a share of revenue or a fee per lead. You need clean tracking, or you'll argue about which lead came from where.
Setup fee plus retainerA one-off charge for strategy and branding, then a monthly fee.Make sure the setup produces something you keep, like a research doc or content plan.

What the price should cover

A full-service agency handles research, ideas, scripting, recording direction, editing, thumbnails, YouTube SEO, publishing and lead tracking. When you compare two quotes, write those nine items down the side of a page and tick off what each quote includes. A cheap quote often turns out to cover two or three of them.

What it costs to do it yourself

The alternative is hiring the team. Doing YouTube properly takes a researcher, a scriptwriter, a producer, an editor and a thumbnail designer, plus someone who knows what gets watched. Across salaries or freelance rates, that usually runs fifteen to twenty thousand dollars a month, and you still carry the management and the guesswork for the first few months.

Hiring a single editor is cheaper, but you're then doing the research, ideas, scripts, packaging and tracking yourself. For most business owners that's where the channel stalls.

StudioFlow's pricing

$3,000 a month for 4 videos (one a week), or $6,000 a month for 8.

Includes research, ideas, script outlines, recording setup and direction, editing, thumbnails, publishing, and tracking and reporting.

Your first video is free. No card is needed to start, and you only pay if you want to carry on. If you already have an editor, we reduce the rate and handle everything else.

For context on what that buys: our client channels have generated more than $1M in revenue and over 50 million organic impressions. Tyrelle's community reached $250,000 a month, and Ryan went from no leads to over 1,000 qualified leads and $50,000 a month.

How to tell if the price is worth it

Work backwards from your offer. If a new customer is worth $5,000 to you, the channel needs to bring in one customer a month to cover a $3,000 retainer with room to spare. That's why we only recommend this if you sell something at $1,000 or more. Below that, the maths is much harder.

Also count what the channel does for your other marketing. Prospects who watched you before a sales call tend to show up warm and argue less about price, and people who see your ads often look you up on YouTube before they buy.
