YouTube agency or video editor: which one do you need?

By Jihan Kalidh, founder of StudioFlow · Updated 14 September 2026

A video editor gives you edited footage. A YouTube agency decides what to make, how to say it, how to package it, and whether any of it brought in customers.

Both are useful. The right choice depends on how much of the rest of the work you can do well yourself, and how much time you have for it.

The hidden cost of the editor route

The editor's invoice is only part of the cost. The rest is your time: researching, writing, briefing, reviewing cuts, writing titles and checking results. For a founder whose hour is worth a lot, that time often costs more than the difference in fees. It's also the work that gets dropped first in a busy month, which is how most business channels go quiet.

Can you do both?

Yes. If you already have an editor you like, StudioFlow can keep them and reduce our rate. We still run research, scripts, direction, thumbnails, SEO, publishing and tracking, and your editor handles the cut.

A simple test

Look at your last five videos. If you can name the buyer each one was made for and say whether it brought in a lead, an editor is probably enough. If you can't, the gap is strategy and measurement, and an editor won't fill it.
